Alliance seeks consumer finance professionals for work group
Earlier this year the Alliance commissioned a study to examine consumer finance needs for clean cooking technologies as well as financial models that could be adopted for these products. To build on that effort, a professional work group is being formed to complement the study findings, and develop and execute a strategy to strengthen the supply of and demand for consumer financing for clean cooking solutions.
The Alliance is looking for consumer finance research professionals and practitioners with experience in providing finance to consumers, to participate in the work group.
The research
The study, conducted by Arc Finance, will examine consumer finance needs for clean cooking technologies, current available consumer finance models, and potential models that could be adopted for these products, in Kenya and Ghana. It will also cover a broader global review of literature on the topic. These and similar studies in other Alliance focus countries will be the basis for partnerships to scale up consumer finance in these regions.
Work group
The work group will complement the studies, and develop and execute a strategy based on the findings. The group of advisors will build on the recommendations put forth by the Reaching Consumers working group that contributed to the Alliance’s business plan in 2011. The strategy will explore consumer financing interventions and transform research conducted by Arc Finance into a concrete set of actions and partnerships. We also want advice and outreach on how to better position the clean cooking sector within the financial inclusion agenda – so consumers of all income levels have more access to clean household energy solutions.
Are you a consumer finance research professional or practitioner with experience in providing finance to consumers? Are you interested in participating in the Alliance’s work to help create a thriving global market for clean cooking solutions through better consumer awareness and access to finance for consumers?
